SELF CATERING HOLIDAY COTTAGE
No. 3 Tarrel Farm Cottages is a renovated traditional farm cottage situated within open farmland two miles from the coastal village of Portmahomack on the Tarbat Peninsular in Easter Ross.
The cottage, which sleeps up to 5 people + travel cot, has stunning views across both the Moray and Dornoch Firths and is an excellent base for exploring the Easter Ross area or for touring further afield to the Black Isle, the stunning West Coast and the Isle of Skye or the mountains of Sutherland and Caithness. Golf, fishing, mountain biking, walking, kayaking and seal and dolphin watching trips are amongst the many activities available nearby. This area of the Highlands is renowned for its low rainfall and therefore does not suffer with the dreaded West Coast midges!
The property has a 3-star self-catering award from VisitScotland and the owners are members of the Association of Scottish Self-Caterers.
The seaside village of Portmahomack is a popular holiday destination. As well as a fantastic sandy beach, there is a pub that serves lunches and evening meals, the renowned Oystercatcher restaurant and two cafes, all of which serve locally sourced produce. There is also a village shop/PO, harbour, the Tarbat Discovery Centre as well as a 9 hole golf course. The impressive Tarbatness Lighthouse is situated within a nature reserve at the end of the peninsular.
Larger towns nearby include the ancient Royal Burgh of Tain, with a wide array of shops, hotels and resturants as well as a challenging golf course, and the beautiful cathedral town of Dornoch with its famous Royal Dornoch golf club.
